(S01E14) Now that we have had a look at Saracen’s father, Tyra’s mother, and Smash’s mother, the Riggins family gets an episode. I have to say, I do like how they are pacing all of this. The stories are taking their time and have a very good feel to how they are revealed.
There are some drawbacks to that of course. Friday Night Lights is going to have trouble adding new viewers because each episode is so dependent on previous installments. The main story, Riggins reuniting with his father, got enough exposition to work for a new viewer. But so much of the rest of it, (the court case, Street & Lyla, the Smash saga), only really works for people that are following along week after week. That’s also something that will hinder its chances in syndication. But then, bringing up FNL syndication at this point is just crazy talk. So, on with the review for people that have been watching.

Prison Break actor Lane Garrison will likely be charged with felony vehicular manslaughter for an accident that killed a 17-year old girl last month. Beverly Hills police say that Garrison was high on cocaine and drunk when he slammed his SUV into a tree, killing his teen-age passenger. Two other 15-year old girls in the car were injured. Police say Garrison’s blood-alcohol level that night was .20 percent, more than twice the legal limit, and they found a number of empty alcohol containers in his SUV.
Garrison, 26, played “Tweener” on Prison Break, but his character was killed off earlier this season. If convicted, he could face up to ten years in actual prison.

The promos for the second, and final series of Life on Mars have started sprouting up across the UK.
I spotted a bus stop ad earlier tonight in the west end of Glasgow, designed in a typically 1970s fashion — replete with the late 1970s BBC logo — promising the return of this excellent retro-cop time-travelling show on Tuesday 13 February on BBC ONE in the UK.
John Simm will return as detective inspector Sam Tyler, who finds himself still stuck in 1973, following a car accident (the title of the show comes from the last tune he was listening to on his iPod before his accident — David Bowie’s Life on Mars).
